Recipe Notes and Pro TipsÂ
- These recipes here cook the veggies from frozen. Please do not thaw them first.
- If you want crispy hash browns, then break up the frozen potatoes before air frying, as larger clumps may not crisp up. Like with frozen peas, you can whack the packet against the counter to break them up.
- Don’t overcrowd the basket. The air needs to circulate to cook the food evenly and crisp it up. Work in multiple batches to cook crispy hash browns. Cook the first batch then remove and add subsequent batches.
- If you want them extra crispy you might need to add more oil and cook them for a few more minutes.
- Check out some of my favorite things to use to make this recipe.
- Be careful when you flip the patties so that they do not break during the cooking process. Use a spatula to turn them as well as to avoid scratching the basket.
- Larger pieces of hash browns may need to cook for an additional minute or two.Â
- Season these Air fried hash browns to taste, and don’t skip the salt.

Delicious Variations
- Swap the seasoning – Swap out the Italian seasoning for your favorite seasoning blend or other spices.Â
- Top with cheese – Sprinkle the hash browns with shredded cheese and return to the air fryer for 1-2 minutes or until the cheese is melted. Yum!
- Add bacon – sprinkle on some cooked crispy bacon during the last minute of cooking.

- Freeze – Refreezing cooked frozen hash browns is not recommended.Â

FAQs

You sure can use pre seasoned hash browns. Just be sure to taste for seasoning so you don’t over or under salt them.Â
Yes, you can! And after making them in air fryer, you will never go back to pan-frying them again.Â
Homemade hash browns usually made with oil, seasonings and potatoes are usually gluten free, as long as the seasonings are also gluten free.
However, a lot of store-bought ones would generally have flour to help bind them and make them crispy and will not be gluten free. So please do check the ingredients thoroughly before cooking to be sure.
