Whether it’s a box of chocolates shared with work colleagues, waiting for mince pies to warm for a catch-up with friends, or oohing and ahhing with your family as a golden turkey is brought to the table, food is at the centre of Christmas. This year Waitrose is here to bring you all your festive favourites.
For us, food is the beating heart of the festive season. It might be returning to traditions only enjoyed at this time of year – we’re looking at you Christmas pudding – or discovering new twists on old favourites. However you’re celebrating the festive season this year, Waitrose is here to make sure the food will be delicious.
Free Range Bronze Feathered Whole Turkey with Giblets
A gorgeous centrepiece, there’s nothing better to please a small crowd than a beautiful whole turkey. And Waitrose’s bronze feathered whole turkey will not disappoint on flavour, or on ethics. With free range credentials, these turkeys are naturally slower growing, have access to space and natural daylight as they forage in open pastures, and are fed on a cereal-based diet.
This not only makes for happier birds, but also for a fuller flavour and meat that is rich yet tender. The turkey can be bought is small, medium and large sizes.
Turkey Breast Crown with Prime Wing
For many of us, Christmas just isn’t Christmas without a turkey. But a whole turkey can be too much if you’re having a more intimate festive meal with just a few people. This is where the turkey crown comes in.
This turkey breast crown comes with a prime wing, and is perfect for a small group of two or three people. When there’s just a few of you, you don’t want to spend all your time in the kitchen away from the fun, so this crown can be roasted in the bag on a baking tray for ultimate convenience. A crown is also easier to carve than a whole turkey – what’s not to love?
Heston from Waitrose Pear & Fig Mince Pies in Triple Cheese Pastry
Heston Blumenthal’s long-standing collaboration with Waitrose is a Christmas gift for us all. A twist on a classic, these mince pies were inspired by Heston’s love of sweet and savoury together. They even won an award for Best Flavoured Mince Pie in the 2022 Christmas Supermarket Awards on our sister site, olive.
The mincemeat inside the pies is made up of vine fruits, apples, figs and candied pears, all spiced with nutmeg and ginger, and laced with ruby port. All that is wrapped in cheesy pastry which uses a combination of cheddar, emmental and Italian hard cheese to create a distinctly savoury and decadent flavour.
Pork, Sage & Onion Stuffing with Melt in the Middle Bread Sauce
This side dish will make the stuffing and bread sauce into a new centrepiece on your festive table.
The stuffing, made with outdoor-bred British pork, has the traditional flavours of sage and onion. When you cut into the stuffing, bread sauce oozes out of the centre, which is sure to impress everyone. To top it off there is triple-oak-smoked bacon, tart cranberries and a bay leaf.
No. 1 Brown Butter Mince Pies with Cognac
A true classic, these premium mince pies will not disappoint. Made with mincemeat filled with vine fruits, glacé cherries, almonds and apricots, and laced with cognac and brandy, they make for a decadent treat. The pastry is made with browned butter for a nutty, biscuity flavour and each individual pie is dusted with icing sugar.
Enjoy as they are, or warm in the oven for 10 minutes.
Brie and Cranberry Toasties
There are few categories of food which evoke more joy than party food, and Waitrose is really bringing the party this year.
These Brie and Cranberry Toasties are crisp white bread filled with a combination of mozzarella and cheddar, béchemal and cheese sauce as well as cranberry and redcurrant chutney. These bite-sized snacks pack a big punch, and would be perfect for a party, or indeed a night at home in front of the fire and a Christmas film.
Heston from Waitrose Hidden Orange Christmas Pudding
A fan favourite, the Hidden Orange Christmas Pudding is back. In the Heston from Waitrose range, this is a moist and succulent Christmas pudding made with cider and Spanish sherry, with a whole candied orange hidden in the centre.
You need to steam the pudding for three hours which, as well as cooking it, will infuse the sponge – and your kitchen – with delicious citrus notes.
In past years this pudding has sold out quickly, so make sure you act now to get this festive favourite.
No. 1 Stratford Blue Truckle with Pear & Cider Glaze and Walnuts
This would make the ultimate centrepiece to any festive cheeseboard. This truckle of Stratford Blue cheese, a smooth and creamy soft blue, comes with a sticky, sweet pear and Kentish cider glaze to drizzle over the top. Finish it off with the crunchy candied walnuts for the perfect combination of flavours and textures that no one will be able to resist.
Vegan Jewelled Roast and No Pigs in Blankets
Making a flavourful alternative to a traditional roast turkey, the vegan roast has a base of savoury mushrooms with caramelised onions and chestnuts. It then has a layer of clove-spiced apricots which is topped with cranberries, crushed chestnuts, sunflower seeds and pine nuts.
It also comes with six no pigs in blankets, so everyone can enjoy a roast with all the trimmings.
Vergani Vegan Panettone
Panettones are such a Christmas treat. Great to give as gifts to share the festive spirit, or just to enjoy with your loved ones, this vegan offering from Vergani means no one has to miss out.
Spiced with raisins and candied orange peel, panettone is sure to be a crowd pleaser. Enjoy with a cup of tea, or a glass of mulled wine to really bring the festive spirit.
