This Morphy Richards slow cooker impressed us with its automatic timer and keep-warm setting – and now’s the perfect time to pick one up at a great price. It’s sleek, easy to use, and the hob-safe cooking pot is a handy bonus too, as you can start pre-cooking ingredients straightaway.

Coffee lovers hoping to make a great saving this Black Friday, this one’s for you. The Lavazza Jolie is an excellent basic espresso machine with smooth, rounded edges and a small footprint.

Already a great-value gadget, it’s also particularly good for producing lungo shots of coffee. Simply lift and lower the handle to lock the capsules into place.

This Ninja appliance handles all the basics like chopping, slicing grating, and kneading with ease – and while it doesn’t come with other nice-to-haves like takeaway cups and blender jugs, it certainly delivers on power and performance.

We were impressed with its compact design and range of presets, which include puréeing, slicing, chopping and mixing. There are handy markers and measurements on the side of the mixing bowl too, and the fact it’s all dishwasher-safe (top-rack only) is a huge win.

Tesco texture plastic black 1.7-litre kettle

A great buy for uni students, this is a speedy kettle that has an ample 1.7-litre capacity – ideal for the amount of use it will undoubtedly get. The black plastic body is simple-looking but has a pleasant texture, and while the switch is a little flimsy, for the price tag it performs surprising well.

Russell Hobbs Fast Bake breadmaker

At first glance, it would be easy to assume this small, budget machine isn’t much to get excited about – but we were delighted to be proven wrong. This Russell Hobbs model wowed us with its good looks, compact size and fast-bake function, and looked great on the countertop.

Size wasn’t an issue for this breadmaker – particularly as it was able to turn out an impressively large 1kg family-sized loaf. There’s 12 programmes with a choice of three sizes, and can have a loaf out of the pan and cooled in under an hour using one of the two fast-bake functions.

Cuisinart Precision stand mixer

Small, good-looking and functional is what you get with this Scandi microwave from Russell Hobbs – and it certainly delivered in our tests.

We loved the mirrored door, matt-grey casing, and wood-effect handle, and even though it lacks the bells and whistles of a larger microwave, if you want a model that nails the basics, this is an excellent choice.

With Black Friday fridge-freezer deals dropping thick and fast, now’s the ideal time to make an even bigger saving on this budget choice from Fridgemaster. Offering ample freezer space with stocking up, leftovers or meal prep, this fuss-free fridge-freezer is adjustable, smart-looking and relatively inexpensive to run.

It has reversible doors so can be placed pretty much anywhere in the kitchen, and while it lacks some of the high-tech functions of more expensive models, for a basic white goods appliance it does the job very effectively.

When is Black Friday?

This year, Black Friday is taking place on Friday, 25 November. It typically takes place on the final Friday of November, immediately following Thanksgiving. Cyber Monday comes a few days later on 28 November 2022.

It’s usually seen as a great opportunity to pick up the best deals on Christmas presents, as it’s so close to the festive season.

What is Black Friday?

As one of the biggest shopping events of the year, Black Friday is when you’ll find some of the best and biggest savings on a huge range of products, including electricals, appliances, tech, fashion and more. Several retailers offer both in-store and online deals.

In previous years, we’ve seen Black Friday deals drop the day after Thanksgiving, but this year in particular we’re seeing offers launch much earlier than usual – with some Black Friday sales starting as early as 1 November.
